220 grain hornady round nose will not feed

I am having trouble getting the 220 grain hornady round nose to feed in my AR pistol. I have tried a colt mag and also p-mag. A buddy of mine told me I could work on the feed ramps with dremmel tool. Anyone else have any ideas.

Load to a shorter OAL but be mindful of pressure increases.

This is a great affordable round for the .300/221 but I've never been able to get it to feed with any consistency; for that move over to SMK's.

The last box I got did not feed well, more lead exposed. I scraped some off and feed good. I have not found any Sierra to buy

for 220 weight I think you will find that the Nosler Partitions soft-points to do well on the feeding.
The Nosler soft-point are round-nose shaped but just a little more pointy than the Round Nose soft-points on the Hornady 220's. & they feed & fly great great.
I wish they did a 240 in them. I get by Nosler once in a while and check for culled seconds that are on sale but they never seem to have them for seconds.

I had the same problem. In mine the exposed lead of the bullet would hang up on the sharp forward edge of the magazine wall. With a swiss file or dremel, radius and smooth out the sharp edge.
I have not found it necessary to grind on the feedramps. YMMV.

I would suggest the same with respect to the feed ramp. At the very least get some polish going (once again the Dremel is fantastic).

I've done it to my 9mm pistol and a couple of rifles and it does help - maybe not a perfect solution in this case but worth a try. BTW and FWIW - I had not had any issues with these bullets in a bolt gun.

I have dremmel and polished the feed ramps on my 762x39 for the Horn 220gr RN. The first box had around 1/3 exposed lead and fed good. The next box had 3/4 of the nose covered and started dragging. These fed OK in my 300 Whisper then the next box had the whole nose covered with lead. I open up the fed ramps and polished and they would still drag enough to cause them to bounce up and hit the top of chamber and push the bullet into the case. So I started trimming some of the lead off. These bullets have the jacket over the nose to about a 3/16 hole in the point where the lead comes out. With the lead removed they slide right in. I wish they would leave the lead off the tip. If I could find some Sierra I would try them. I had looked at some Nosler 220gr and they are Semi-Spitzer and cost nearly as much as SMK 240gr. so I had to pass on them.
