1st Post - Whats the story with Taiwan M9s?

On one of the forums I visit, I found M9 bayonets on sale for a very low price. The images of the knives showed various designs, some of which I had never seen before in an M9. But the one consistency was the TAIWAN etched into the blade below the M9 BAYONET, where you would normally expect ONTARIO or PHOEBIS...

My question is are these real M9s? And if they are, what is the quality?

I will be buying one if I hear good info about them, and avoiding it if not...

Thanks!

I have not had a chance to go through and find all the broken image links.. The reason they are not working is because of moving the forums and M9Bayonet.com to new servers. In addition, the forums have also been moved to a new domain and a new forum package which has also resulted in a number of broken links.... I have a thread where I would like any broken links reported and I will go through and fix them...

As for the Taiwan M9s... They are not "Real USGI M9s" but they are very nice knives for the money. I have one that is brand new and it looks and feels just like a Phrobis M9 except for the markings. I paid a whopping $35 for it and I would buy another any day as I can sharpen that knife, carry it in the woods, and do all the foolish things I wouldn't want to do with a knife worth $100-$150...

Thanks for joining and I hope you decide to stay and post more!

This is the same as the one I have

Like I said above, it's a really good knife for the price and I bought mine for about $35 lightly used...

As for watching for M9s... I use this page to find them and it's the reason I put it on that page... eBAY is the best place to find cheap or expensive M9s...

Chinese M9 Copies

The M9 copies from Taiwan are manufactured by Pablo (Paul) Medrano. They are a very good quality bayonet for the price. He has several different blade configurations and they are available in the standard finish or black oxide. He sells them on ebay using the name Mr. Pauly. You can also order them direct from his website. If you buy more than one you can probably get a break on the price; but even if you don't they are very reasonably priced.Medrano's website

1st post here....thanks Quarterbore for the invite.

Feel free to ask any questions on the Taiwan M9's I have.....I don't know too much, aside from some metalurgy.

But I simply had these made......as I love the M9 (Buck/Phrobis), but could not find decent ones for the price most can afford.

So I bit the bullet, bought an original, and a couple other knife styles, and made some variations.

I'm working on making a variation on the M11, but still up in the air.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

Please post a WTS ad in the classifieds with the various models you sell:

Now, you mentioned that you know about the metalurgy and I have seem some of your other posts arround the web... would you care to compare and contrast what you know about your M9s and the others on the market?
