Hercules 2400

In Sierra's table for 300 Whisper is the powder listed as just "2400" the same as Hercules 2400?

If so, does that powder cycle an AR action with either supersconics or subsonics if it has a pistol length gas system?

2400 Powder

I show 2400 as an Alliant powder with a burnrate very similar to N110 or H110. Given those burn rates there should be no issues cycling a pistol or even carbine length gas system.

Just to be on the safe side I would send Sierra an email or give them a call, they've always been very helpful in my dealings with them.

Hercules 2400 is the same powder as Alliiant 2400. The two companys merged awhile back.

In most loading manuals the powders is simply listed as 2400.

As far as cycling your rifle. I have used it and with supersonic loads it will/should cycle your rifle. I have also tired it with some sub-sonic loads. In one of my rifles (Olympic Arms) cycles fine in the other file (Noveske) it cycles most of the time. There is a difference between the two rifles though. The Noveske has the gas port in the standard pistol position and the Olympic Arms has the gas port about 0.5 inches closer to the chamber.

I hope this helps

Thanks for the help. The powder is the same and it seems to work well in my rifle for either supersconic or subsconic loads. Mine is a Noveske barrel with the port in standard pistol position.
