Introduction

Hi everyone,
I just bought a metal lathe and need to build skills in making the cutters and how to address them to the work. I had not used a lathe since high school in 1958. however, I was able to make a pulley to replace a broken plastic one on a woodworking machine. My trouble came when the pulley was finished and ready to seperate. I finally used a hacksaw. Tutorials from the journeymen on this site would be really appreciated by us hobbiests.

The lathe I bought is a Sears Craftsman 549-2892 and came with tons of tools, the majority of which, I have no idea what they are or how to use them. The manual is of little use for operation of the lathe. Does anyone have a title and author of a good instruction book for metal lathes?

As another new lathe owner (Barker 5" x 24") I have bought "The Amateur's Lathe" by L H Sparey and "Lathework - A Complete Course" by H Hall
