300/221 Accuracy

What kind of groups do you guys shoot at 100yards using Subsonic Ammo? Anyone care to share their groups and load data?

I've covered a bunch of my 100 yd (5 shot) groups with a quarter, but if I get under an inch with the 300W, I'm happy. You'd be surprised at the groups you can get loaded supersonic....with a good benchrest bullet.

10.2 gr of H110 and a 240 SMK gets me 3/4" 3 shoot groups at 100 yds. This is out of a 16" SSK AR in semi auto. Groups improve sightly with the gas off. Its about 1060 to 1070 out of my gun, but it is much faster in my friends 20" CZ

I have groups of over an inch at 100m and smaller groups at 180m: go and figure why???
I do not complain about it.
Maybe I consentrate better for longer range shooting?
Or maybe the bullet stabilize and group better further away?

I use 240 smk, 9.1gr of VW n110, federal match primer, 204 hornady brass resized, and a 16" Border Barrel , 1in 8 twist on a cz action.

My supersonic reload is not brillant, over 2 Inches at 100m, good enough for close action in the New zealand bush though.
125gr nosler BT with 17gr of vita N110.hot load in my rifle, beware!

According to Randy Brooks - who makes and has shot tons of bullets - some bullets don't settle down until after 100 yds. 110 V-MAX, 20 gr. 296, into the lands - dime size. 125 nos. bt, 18.6 gr. 296, into the lands - dime size. Anything sub goes to an inch. Longer barrel time, all of my imprefections start to show. But being able to hear and see bullet impact - "PRICELESS". TC Encore, 16.5" bbl., The gun will actually twist from the torque on 180 thru 250 bullets. As usual - the above is only safe in my gun! Good Shooting!!!

See my never ending thread about the 30BR in the non-Whisper forum...

Best to date - 0.448 @ 1140fps and 0.7 @ subsonic

Faster powders are the key - if you don't get a good group with one - go faster and start again with load development.

Do you have a short throat when you can set them into the lands? Or do you seat the heavy bullets deep?
