Lightbulb Quick question about safety....

I have a .300W upper I built up specifically for subsonic, it has a .093 gas port in the pistol position and cycles the subs FLAWLESSLY.

Ok, now I want to load up some supersonic rounds and try them out. Will they hurt my upper in the current configuration?

Do I need to regulate down the gas, or does it matter?

First off, use the heaviest buffer you can for supers. I have one of the solid steel 7oz ones. (eg a 9mm buffer).

Start 20% under manual and work the load up. With the pistol length and lots of gas, you may be limited how much pressure you can run and still get the rounds to reliably extract. Expect stuck cases and such. That will tell you your upper limits.

You could get an adjustable gas block and have no issues.

I am a machinist, so I could easily make any kind of buffer I want - thanks for that suggestion!

Yeah, I know - I need to get/make an adjustable block - it's just that I have a real low profile one to fit under the handguard, need to find one that fits......

Thanks again guys!

The PRI one is pretty low pro,

Depending on how thick, for threads, you could just drill and tap some adjustment on your current gas block. Its just a 8-32 set screw.
