Talking What do you think?

Hi out there first of all,
I'm a 48 year old living in Germany and am interested in metal work.
I've some experience in the field but would like more. I was wondering if buying a
engine lathe at my age would be practical or not. I've worked on automatic lathes but haven't used an engine lathe since the High school.
What do you think, do I have enough time to learn how to use it before my time has run out? I always liked to tinker around but sometimes producing round parts
creates problems.
I appreciate all the help that I can get. ( without having to spend any money that is) ha-ha.
