reloading components

Well put my orders in for various components and prices weren't too bad considering the current market. Got a case of 55GR FMJ for $80, 147gr penetrators for $100 and 2000 LC once fired brass for $60. Also picked up some more AA1680..that powder is really scarce now. Was looking around a local gun shop and came across 2 Colt sporter 20 round 7.62x39 frankenmags brand new in the wrap. Don't even have a upper in that but couldn't leave them without a home after discovering them. Now if Mr. Bush will just send that economic incentive check before I run out of food and fuel I will be ok .

Hi pug,

About two years ago I asked my grandfather what would be a good long term investment...he replied as a joke "buy bullets and beans"....he has since passed, but he was not too far off...

congrats on the component harvest...I too have been looking for 1680 and found (5) 1 lb. containers today....I spoke to Accurate yesterday and they said the 1680 powder was in the "testing stage" and soon to be released.....was down to my last pound and getting a little nervous so I gave them a call.....

how many 147's did you get for $100???, and where is a good place to pick up once fired .223???...I have gotten by just doing mixed range pick-up for the last couple years but is kinda drying-up around here....

The brass deal changed as of the last purchase. Seems someone mentioned to him they had seen .223 brass go as high as $80 per 1000 so he said he would honor .03 for the batch we spoke of but he was going up on the rest. I will see what he settles on and if he is willing to ship brass. It is mostly late 80's LC headstamp. Other than him the usual internet resellers are getting $60 per 1000. Was looking at the latest thread on arfcom trying to track what was going on with the various once fired suppliers.

As far as the bullets, the 55gr fmj was case of 1000 the 147gr was case of 500. The supplier with the 5k of M193 projectiles shipped for free was the deal but actually I have got components all over the place now so passed.
