are there registered GI/aftermarket auto-sears?

there are RRs, rLLs, and rDIASs. Are there any actual auto-sears that are the registered machineguns? Or are the auto-sears always a constituent part of a RR?

There could be but I have never seen one done that way. Right before the ban a number of eople tried to register all kinds of stuff and the BATFE went and audited many of these manufactures. There were a lot of MGs that were dertemined to NOT be MGs and were taken off the books and this would be an example of an item that I expect the BATFE would have removed if found...

Just a guess however...

If you’re talking M16 auto sears it would not work, you would need to drill the hole in the receiver. Having a receiver with a hole for a sear makes it an MG now you’ve just made an illegal MG.

I’m sure allot of other guns would be the same AK47 comes to mind. I think most after market sears mount in the host gun in a different position than a factory sear that way when removed you can not just install factory parts to make it run full auto.

actually there are some NFA registered AK47 sears. They required "the hole" in the host receiver and those sears who did not have a host (at the time the ATF came down on these) were unregistered. Those that had already been installed into receivers and transferred to individuals were let go. These are "gray but legal" .. I also believe that the host weapon SN was required to be put in the "additional info" block on the registration .. thus marrying the two forever.

You will find married sears in AKs as well as HKs, however I have not heard of any Auto Sears for the M16 family being registered or existing as being married to a lower and allowed that way. It would not suprises me though if a few made it threw the cracks.
