Well - My plan is to re-install the front sight tower. Since I don't feel comfortable welding or brazing the barrel port, I think I will insert a solid rod in the sight tower where the gas tube goes in and pin it in place with the roll pin - I know I will loose a little pressure as a tiny amount of gas enters the tower - but I feel I won't loose a significant amount.
If I notice I am still having trouble, I will plug the bottom hole of the sight tower as well.
