M9A1: Thank you for stating what is obscured by
"shaded +" on tang. To my knowledge 1993 BUCK USMC trials bayonets should have nothing there. Perhaps Bill Porter can verify this (although rivet tang variation cannot be disassembled for inspection). As mentioned in my previous post, the purposely obscured area on the tang leads several members of the Forum to question the originality of the pictured example. However, your response (quoted above) does not provide any reassurances, but rather to the contrary, appears even more evasive, and only increases suspicion about your M9! Unless you are willing to satisfy the members of this Forum and reveal all, I would not expect your bayonet to be accepted as authentic.
