I used wet phone books (and deer/ turkeys) for my expansion testing. A BDC scope or a mil-dot scope is needed to shoot these heavy bullets at differernt ranges. I wouldn't recommend hunting with this cartridge unless you pay your dues at the range and know your limitations.

Personally, I wouldn't hunt with the loads you are using. A supersonic load using a single shot pistol bullet in the 120-gr range will give much better balistics and much better on-game performance. The 300 Whisper is easily a 200-yrd deer cartridge as long as you use the correct load... This is a fine hunting cartridge, your load is the problem.
