Ok, so I was given a plain 700 long action and I need something good to do with it. I am a machinist, I do reload, I turn my own bullets, I calculate my own load data, so I am not entirely new to the game. Not trying to sound pompous, just letting you all know where I'm coming from....

I think I'd like to build a .510W out of this thing and I need to know what components I need to collect. The rifle is currently chambered in '06, bone stock. I have one of those really nice surgeon action wrenches and a full machine shop at my disposal.

Is this a reasonable donor action? Can I modify the bolt face enough to accept the bigger case head? Can I buy an appropriately sized bolt? Etc, etc....
