You can trim a bit off the ejector spring to make the brass not fly as far. Go slow. No more than a half coil at a time.

My high power rifle brass just dribbles out of the gun and lands in a small pile 18-24 inches away.

All my other uppers fling the brass out, way out. That is good as I like reliability.

As long as the dent isnt a crease/cut, your fine to reload it and press on.
