Funny you should bring this up. The one and only time I took my new 10" barrel to the range, I had the same issue, only the dents were about halfway down the body of the brass. My brass deflector is taking a beating too. I'm used to my 20" AR in .223 set up for long range. It throws all brass in a neat little pile about 8 feet away at 4 o'clock. My 300 BLK throws the brass in a sweeping arc at varying distances. I'm thinking it's because it may be slightly over-gassed. I'm going to try different powders and see if it makes a difference.
