when we finished my upper we settled on a .116" gas port dia. that was the ID of gas tube so it didn't make much sense to go larger. I run a standerd buffer thet has had the weights removed to make weight = to that of a carbine buffer 1350gr. it seems to work great I have a 16" barrel and pistol length gas tube.
