No never had a 240 grainer not punch through end exit the deer but the 240 grain SMK with 1:8 twist are not as stable as the 150 grainer bullets that you are shooting. The 240 grainers tend to yawl...

I have a AAC Cyclone and a SAS 30 cal can... can't beat the SAS for the money. Work great on my 308 but you don't need high tech cut edge to make a whisper quiet.

9.3 grains of H110 over a remington 7 1/2 BR primer gives me 1050 fps... both in SSK 300 Whisper 16" TC and a CZ 300/221 with a Mike Rock 5R barrel also 16".

I use only 240 grain SMK's

Forget about expansion... I shoot deer with the 240 grain SMK traveling 1050 FPS (+/-) kills em dead... I use the 7 1/2 Rem BR primers with 9.2 grains of h 110. They usally walk a few feet and check...

Have you considered using a tc contender frame and a ssk or bullberry barrel? First pick for me would be a whisper on a cz 527 action, followed by a 788 remington. i'll pass on the shoe box action...

I didn't say the easiet nor have a built one myself... but based on my cantact in New Zealand who happens to be one of the few who is autorized by SSK to use the Whisper name... Stronger than the AR...

I have taken deer with my 300 Whisper both with body shots and head shots, none walked more that 50 yards half piled up in their tracks. I use the 240 grain SMK with 9.2 grains of H110. Longest shot...
