New to the forums & a question
 

Hi guys,

I go by Jim or Drac. I'm a knifemaker that found this forum while seaching for information about lathes. I have been gifted with an older Sears lathe and am trying to find information on it. Been making knives for about 5 years now and mostly maker Gent's EDC fixed blades and hunting knives.

Any information on it or speculation would be helpful. I can't even find out what modle or make it is.

Drac,

Others can correct me if I am wrong but from the looks of it seems like it may be an Atlas who made them for Sears years ago. I had a 6" at one time, my first lathe and this looks to be a 9 or 10" model. The reason I say this is they typically had flat ways as it appears, from the picture, yours does. Also the follower rest and steady rest both look like those Atlas made. The toolpost looks like the one I have on my 9" Southbend. If you are looking for tool holders you can try Enco.

Get her set up and run it. They are a ball and once you get the hang of it you will find there are all kinds of things you can do with it. Heck I even use mine for trimming brass for some of the Wildcat cartridges I shoot.
