What is significance of the serial number
 
I have a Phrobis 4 line with a stamped serial on the ricasso any ideas as to what it means, I have not seen any others similarly marked except the Dutch ones but they start with KL

I have never seen one marked in this way, but I guess it is not an official marking. It is probably a way for an individual unit to keep track of their issued M9's.
I guess HM would be an abbreviation for a unit or military base somewhere.

Just my two cents :smile:

EDIT: Found an entry on Wikipedia in the section of the Nike-Ajax AA missiles. ".... those starting with HM were in the Homestead AFB/Miami Defense Area, ...."
So HM could possibly stand for Homestead Miami, but this is just a wild guess ;)

Thats a possability, in which case there must be a lot more out there somewhere. Of course with it being not the best stamping it maybe the guys initials and the last 4 of his Social!

Very true, but what would be the point. If only the individual soldier knows what it stands for he could just as well put "This one is mine" on it with a permanent marker :grin: hahaha
