Hi
I found this site doing some searching for a few Buck type knives I have. I spent a good deal of time at the Oceanside pawn shop owned by Harry Camphuysen (sp?) chatting with the fellas and ended up buying an early BuckMaster and a prototype Buck Titanium (as well as a bunch of other stuff). I'm retired from the Navy now (been so for 14 years) but I still work for the government on the Naval Hospital Bethesda, MD compound. I shoot a good bit and have a few knives. My son just finished his Army active duty tour (~4.5 years) and is in the process of driving back from Fort Lewis as I type. |

Hello, I enjoy working on firearms, and am on several other firearm related forums. I am building a AMD 65 from a parts kit I purchased last year at a local gunshow. After I finish it I would like to build a 1911 style pistol, and a AR15. Also I am in the process of building a shop.

introduction
Hi. love guns of all types; knives, othr weapons, etc. learning about surplus, interested in eventually making knives. also into self defense, etc. Love to know how to do it all myself; woodscraft, etc. have bought knives and guns for many years, no big collection, just variety, etc.
thinking of reducing the number and variety and going for exceptional quality, users. all of a sudden not as interested in the variety cause i only own them but do not use them all. example : 3 double barrels ... ruger .270 #1 and 7 rem mag and always use same shotgun and same rifle; same with the knives, have different blade shapes, and sizes and actually use very few, though use more different nives than hunting rifles. found the site looking for extremely accurate arms, considering military / police / varmint type weapons semi or bolt or single shot. found the site informative and the folks experienced. Love it. Dan kennison - a coonass for sure. |
New guy from PA
Hello everyone. Just checking in here. I live in south central PA. 12 year U.S. Army Veteran. I served with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Operation Desert Storm (my avatar is the 2D ACR patch). I carried my issued M7 during Desert Storm. That was the first time that bayonet had been out of my Troop's arms room in one hell of a long time. It was not until I got stateside again in 1992, with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment that I actually got issued a M9. I had to turn that one back in when I left the Regiment. Been out of the service since '96. I am new to the M9 addiction, but am a long time FALcaholic. There seems to be a great bunch of folks here and a vast wealth of information.

hello everyone,
Hi, I go by Rockwolf66 online and I'm from California. Currently I am stuck here as I am a student and cannot afford to get out. My intrerests are Women, firearms, knives, literature and rock & Roll( not usually in that order). As far as knives go they are cheaper to collect than firearms and I can always find a use for them. |
Hi, everyone, I'm from Massachusetts and I've been interseted in combat knives and bayonets from the last 7 years or so. And I wish to gain further knowledge on this subject. And I also love firearms and soon I would like to start collecting them as a Hobby.

M-7 bayonet collector
My name is Bill and I use the name K75thranger in honor of my brother Frank who was KIA on July 8th, 1969 serving as a sniper with the 4th Infantry Division assigned to the 75th Rangers K Company. I have been collecting M-7 bayonets for about six years now. I only specialize in collecting the different variations of the M-7. I currently have 103 different types of M-7's, from the green handled Colt's (all three types), to the recent Chinese M-7's (in order to fit the AR-15 the crossguard ring has to be bored out). I have German, Belgium, Pananmanian, Thailand, Indonesian,Phillipino,Canadian,Australian, Israeli, North Korean, and South Korean variations. I have all the US manufactorers...BOC, COLT, CONETTA, FZR, GEN CUT, IMPERIAL, MILPAR, MIL-TEC, ONTARIO, and TAC. I was even lucky enough to get a Product Improved variation from the Army Ranger test trials in 1975 (number 33). I also have three of the Imperial Vietnam War Commemortive bayonets (US ARMY, USMC, and US AIR FORCE. If anyone has the US Navy variation in it's original presentation case, I would be happy to purchase it from you. Also any variations that you may have to add to my collection I would be interested in. If you have any questions about M-7's, feel free to ask, if I don't know I will find out for you

Another M9 Guy
I just talked to a friend & fellow collector whom mentioned the M9 QB site to me. Then I recalled joining back in April, 2005 (but forgot all about it & had not logged in since!). Anyway, I see it has expanded quite a bit since those first members joined, and I will look forward to reviewing the many posts submitted since then.
My interest in M9s began about four years ago, although I had been aware of this bayonet system since the late 1980s. Initial reaction to seeing my first M9 back then was pretty negative. Having served three years in the USMC, I thought running around with such a bayonet like that (as opposed to the M7 I was issued), would have been like having a brick hanging from one's utility belt! I also remembered reading about the adoption of this bayonet by the U.S. Army, & how some politicians were bemoaning the fact it was too expensive a proposition. In the 1990's while at the Great Western militaria show I saw Mr. Finn's big "product board", with M9s & other bayonet/knives he had for sale, but my interests lied elsewhere. In any event, about four years back, I picked up a used Phrobis "4-line" at a local swapmeet for $25.00. Somehow it seemed more appealing to me than in the past. Whatever the effect, it appears to have taken hold. Though I later upgraded that first example, there are plenty more which I have added since (some at a substantial increase in price, too!). |

Hello and welcome (back) to the forum. Hope you'll join us in the M9 discussion forums!   |
Hi. My name is Dan, and I make Handmade Military Combat knives .
I use a tri A symetrical grind inspired by the original Probis M9 Bayonet, which next to what I make is my favorite knife. The design is ingenious, and although many of todays knifemakers would say me wrong about that, it is simply because they have never studied the knife. I've been doing this for the past almost 12 years now. Before that I was a law enforcement officer, for 20 years. I also during that time had a part time business selling machine guns to police depts. I have a web site, http://www.relentlessknives.com and do a Support Our Troops program every year which includes sending knives to our men and women in harms way in Iraq and Afg. I was invited here by a member Mr. Moon, who is a knife collector.....no, a passionate M9 bayonet enthusiast, who I met, as he literally searched the world from his computer day and night for over a year in relentless persuit of an M9 Clear. Although I have never had the pleasure of a personal meeting with Mr Moon, his Great interest and enthusiasim could not be over looked, and I'm proud to be a friend of his. That's it. Thanks for allowing me a space in your community, I look forward to being an asset here. |
WELCOME FRIEND DaN !

Hi folks; My real name's Craig Butler, I hail from the west coast of Canada (Vancouver). I call myself 427Rat cause I'm a bit of an auto nut with a special fondness for big blocks.
My other interests include leather work, guitar playing (70's rock, jazz, blues, swing, big band) audio, video, guns, muscle cars and motorcycles. Living in Canada I cant really indulge a lot in fire arms. I'm into knives but I wouldnt call myself a collector, i dont have walls of them but whenever I find one that strikes me I grab it. I like the outdoors and 'roughing it' on week-ends usually looking for gold. I found this forum while I was looking into the availability of Buckmasters (good luck:rolleyes: ) I see some of the members here had the foresight to grab them when they were available, oh well I'll enjoy looking at them. Well thats about it, Ive done a bit of looking and I can already see this is a well learned forum and I'm looking forward to learning a lot. |

Hello to all. My name is James. I have only one Buckmaster 184 U.S.A. that I got in 84'-85' from a soldier station at Ft. Bragg. My cousin was in the 82nd. His friend needed cash so I got it for $50. My mom was not sure about it but with some sweet talking I got it. I'm not a big collector but have afew. This place has a great deal of info. Just found it looking for info on my buck 184.

Hi all, a question and perhaps some info from a newbie.
Dear All,
What a great and informative site! This is my first post, so this may seem to be a dim-witted question and for that I apologize. I have done some research on an M7 that I just now bought used. It was made by Imperial, and that is about all I know about it. Everywhere I look the handle is described as "plastic" which is pretty obvious, but I am wondering exactly what type? I'm about 99% sure it is Bakelite based on a quick test I did, but I wanted to check. Separately, and this may be useless info., but in case it is not, I thought I'd pass it along. In addition to the used, surplus M7 I described above, Cheaperthandirt.com also has new, military surplus M7's available in original packaging. I ordered and received one and it is as advertised - I was very pleased. The options are: M7 in original wrapping manufactured in 1974 for $69.97; and M7 in original wrapping manufactured between 1988 and 1989 (this is what I bought). The price is $59.97 Lastly, the used M7 came from Cheaper than dirt as well, costing $29.97 including scabbard. The condition on the website is described as "Used Fair," but mine would more accurately described as "Used, Fairly poor." This is because of all the numbers ground in to the knife and sheath to identify it, along with the sharpie marker and plastic stickers. However, the bayo itself did take a nice edge - it is tough to beat 1095 steel. Thanks in advance, Dan |
hello!
Hello guys!
I'm tyler from New Jersey. While I've been collecting firearms for some years, I've just recently started to collect knives, and few bayonets. Then I've decided to collect compass to complete my tools. Then one my friend introduce button compass to add on my collection. What do think? I'm guessing some of you may share that opinion. I'm hoping to learn a few things here. thanks! tyler |
