Ontario M9 Sharpening Stone Question
 

Wondering if you guys can answer a question for an admitted noob. Just received my first Ontario made M9 and was surprised to see that the scabbard did not include a sharpening stone. Not a big deal to me really, I was just surprised that it was not there after reading the m9 manual posted online at m9bayonets.com. Was this feature discontinued? Why? When? Thanks for letting me know.

Yes, the military had the stone removed because the stones were hard on clothing and they tended to break and needed replacement (or that is my understandings). I do not know when the change was made but it is a fairly recent change.
