In that picture it looks like the gas port is in the carbine postition.

As long as the gas port is small enough, it should be ok.

But did they do it that way? I don't know.

The gas port will need to be larger if in the carbine position to cycle subs. They will do a pistol gas port but willnot warranty the work

Sorry, I thought L1A1Rocker was saying it was in the pistol position in the photo.

What I don't understand is why they offer the stainless barrel only with a 10" twist and a 1/2"-36 muzzle thread while the chrome molly barrels have an 8" twist and a 5/8-24 muzzle thread which will fit most 30 cal suppressors.

I personally think that i't unfortunate the 300 BLK cartridge is offered in boh supersonic and subsoinc versions. That has resulted is a lot of rifles being made which aren't optimum for either subsonic or supersonic use.

I suppose the 10" twist stainless barrel with a 1/2-36 thread is fine for supersonic light bullets depending on how it's chambered, but for the CM 8" barrels the use a pistol gas port position would have been better. That could use an adjustable gas block for both sub and supersonic use.

A few years ago I had Model 1 sales make two custom 10.5" pistol barrels with 5/8x24 muzzle threads and pistol length gas ports in 300 Fireball specificially chambered for 220 grain SMKs at 2.28" COAL. (that was before the 300 BLK existed). M1S did a nice job and the price was reasonable. I would not choose what they're presently offering with less than optimum (in my opinion) compromises.

The 1/2-36 sounds like so it can use a 9mm Colt-style flash suppressor which tends to cost less than 308 flash suppressors. The 1/10 twist is for people who think 1/8 somehow hurts supersonic performance (I don't think it does).

not sure I would want to use a 9mm can on a super sonic round though. which I know someone will try if it threads on, you know they will.
