125 gr NBTs for Coyotes?

Guys,

Have one or more coyotes visiting a neighbor at night. He wants rid of it. Have a Pulsar N550 mounted on the rifle. Works well given the moderate cost. Form 4 for the can is still with the BATFE :-( so going quiet is not yet an option.

Given that some noise will be involved, is the 125 gr Nosler BT going supersonic a decent bullet for the job?

Thanks!

How close can you get to the target?

Do you have the external illuminator?

The 125s should do the job. The faster, the better (within limits, of course.)

Yes, I have an external illuminator. Not sure what the distance will be. Zeroed at 100 yds, ammo has 8" drop at 200.

Are the softest bullets I currently have available. A bit concerned they'll not open up much on a 'Yote.

The opposite end of the world from very, very large piggies and Cape Buffalo (yes ... I have successfully hunted them and am acutely aware of being hunted by some species).

8 inches of drop at 200 yards with a 100 yard zero? What is your velocity?

I had a D550, liked it. The external illuminator extended the range a good bit and kept the scope battery from draining as fast.

Actually was a lousy estimation. looks more like:

BC of 125 NBT = 0.366
Velocity = 2250 fps
Height of center of scope over bore = 3.5"
100 yard zero
drop at 200 yds = 4.9"

They will definately do the job. Just don't plan on saving the hide. Most don't go anywhere.

125's should be fine

I shoot Nos 125 BT's for whitetails loaded to 2250 fps also and tried 150 BT's also a little slower. Chest shots usually pass thru with lots of damage. Can't imagine them not working on a coyote. Good Luck!
