300/221 and 300 blackout reloading dies
Just recently got back into new ar build I decided on a 300 Blackout only problem is where is the ammo? Anyway I have decided to reload and more confused which reloading dies to buy? Between 300/221 whisper dies or the 300 blk foster dies can any one give me a clue. BTW also are the ammo interchangable between 300 whisper and 300 blk?

The Redding 300/221 dies will work just fine for 300 Whisper/Blackout/WTF. They are the easiest to find in stock and strongly recommended.
As a rule of thumb, Whisper ammo can be fired in a Blackout chamber, but *not* the other way around. |
Thank you
Can you tell why the ammo are not interchangeable? If they are subsonic loads the internal case pressure are the same right? |
I run Redding Whisper dies, ammo functions great in my 300BLK AR.
As for 300BLK sub ammo in a 300Whsiper chamber, probably OK, maybe not, why risk it? Things kinda depend on your setup. |
Redding has correctly marked 300 BLK dies now.
Forster does also. Hornady says they will soon. Lee does also: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=934234 http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=548891 http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=518134 |
I was a skeptic ,, Not now
I have too many Whisper barrels floating around in three countries and enough 300 Whisper loaded ammo to last my lifetime, (Thanks Hoser). I used to be a skepyic on the 300 Blackout but no longer.
It is absolutely grand that so many major manufacturers are making dies, barrels, loaded ammo and you name it for the Black. Certainly they would not do it for yucks, doing it becauce its a great new round and plenty of selling opportunities to the shooting public. |
Thank you .
