Rimmed 300W or 30/357
So I switched my shellholder from a 223 to a 357 and ran a 357 mag case into my 300WTF die and this is what i got.
http://www.thehousebmx.com/arfcom/30-357.JPG Does it seem possible to run a 300WTF reamer into a Ruger #1 blank and then add a rim? It seems like I could use this round as is, or shortened and formed 357 max brass for cast bullets that like a longer neck. this way I could use my dies set up the way they are for my regular and rimmed 300WTF rounds.:uzi2: |
Rimmed cases are usually used in single shots, revolvers, and lever actions. As the Desert Eagle demonstrates they can be used in semi-autos with rotating bolts (44 mag & 357). A few bolt actions use rimmed cartridges. ( 44 Mag Rem 788). The main problem with rimmed cartridges is trying to use them in stacked magazines, though it can be made to work.
What is your application for a rimmed 300W that won't work with a rimless 300W? Have you considered using a 32-20 Winchester case? http://www.tmtpages.com/LinkSkyImage...15-RF_Load.Jpg 22 grains case capacity. Works well with .308 Bullets |
this could be a good candidate for the Ruger 77/357.

Your 300-357mag wtf could be called the 300 Whisp-R Imp and dies and reamers are avalable.

I made up a batch of 300 WTF rimmed last year for a silhouette shooter to use in his TC Contender.
I used 357 Max brass trimmed to 1.400. He said it worked perfect and was a total hammer on steel. |
