Anyone try 200 gr Speer Hotcore SP??

Curious is anyone has tried the Speer 200 gr Hotcore softpoint for subsonic loads?

Any comparison with the 220 and 240 gr SMKs?

I have in my old bolt gun and they work great, devastating on deer when pushed to 1300+. Working on a load a upper next week with some 200 and 180's to see if one is better than the other

I have used them at subsonic-- there is nothing to recommend them for that application really. They are not more accurate than SMK's, and of course at subsonic do not begin to expand..... and as I recall they ain't cheap.

I've used a couple boxes of 200-grain gas-checked cast bullets from Oregon Trail...... function, accuracy and economy were all good. It's been a couple years but I'm about to load some more. The only leading was a little bit on top of the bolt tail where the system spits gas on it..... easily scraped off.

I've used them and don't see any advantage to them for subsonic. They don't deform of course, and they are kinda 'spensive.

On the other end of expensive bullets, I've used several hundred cast bullets in .300Wh. Oregon Trail's True Shots are 200 grain gas-checked bullets; I've had good accuracy and reliability with them. A little bit of leading on the bolt tail where the gas spits onto it, nothing remarkable though.

Has anyone tried the Lapua 200 grainer that's made esp. for subsonic applications? I only have a few but sofar so good group-wise..... I need some more for a credible tryout.

....and some of the cast bullets/ Those 225 grainers are obviously not the best feeders. The 210s, sofar so good, but the True Shot 200 grainers have proven themselves to me.

Speer 200gr

I use some Speer 200gr. SP in my AR 7.62x39 and 300W. subsonic. When used hunting they will tumble out the other side, leaving a large exit hole and feed well in AR ramps. If you look in threads a while back you can see some pics of exits out of a pig.
