AAC no longer offers barrel threading services at its facility. All barrel threading inquiries should be directed to: John Noveske at: Noveske Rifleworks 721 NW 2nd St. Grants Pass, OR. 97526 Phone: (541) 479-6117 Email: john@jnrifleworks.com On the web at: www.jnrifleworks.com As for picking your Can here is a helpful site. http://www.silencertests.com/ I myself picked AAC Cyclone http://www.advanced-armament.com/pro...es/cyclone.asp based on performance sub/super sonic, price and construction. Now if only my dealer can get it so I can start my transfer. :( Does you barrel have a 1:8 twist for good subsonic performance. Was it a custom job or did someone run a special on 300 fireball chamberings? I don't recall that as in the factory catalog I have. |

It will take the edge off but at 1500+ you'll still have the crack of the bullet breaking and sound barrier and the noise of the bullet in flight. According to my research once you break speed of sound the noise goes up substancially.
With a 1:10 twist you might try your 150's out of it with just enough powder to get to to 1050 or so - that's under speed of sound but should be short enough bullet to stabilize and keep noise to a minimum - you could also try some of the 110 30 carbine bullets at 1050 fps. |
With1:10, you should be able to stabalise 180 gr round nose bullet, but expension will be bad at 1050 fps.

I have a load with 110gr sierra HP that shoots good and at 1050fps if i can find a load at that speed these bullets should perform well on deer size game |
I do know that with half jacket plinker bullet an neck shot worked well with a 30-30... more lead meant more expansion.
Wonder what a flatpoint 30-30 bullet would do at 1050? or 150 flatpoint? think it was for 303 savage ,they used to sell 190 gr flat point but haven't seen that one for years. |
I have a friend that sent his gun to a guy in PA USA , the guy has a lathe that he chucks the whole barrel and reciever up in and his tool rotates around the barrel, so removing the barrel from the reciever is not needed, I saw the work he did on the Savage 223 and it really looked great. I will try to get the info on who the guy is and how to contact him as soon as possible. I want to say that he charged my friend Kieth around 70.00 US to thread his barrel and even offered to make a custom Thread protector cap to match his barrel profile for another 40.00 US
