Remmy 700 Extraction/Ejection?
What do I need to do to fix my Remmy? It is built on a 17 Fireball action and I thought extraction and ejection would be flawless because of that. It still leaves the empties on top of the rounds in the mag most times. They extract from the chamber, but they just fall off the bolt face before the ejector can pop them all the way out. Would changing out the extractor and ejector possibly fix it or am I going to have to have a Sako or M16 type extractor conversion done? What say you?

If you are on a Fireball action, then you are probably as good as it gets. Try to cycle bolt briskly for best results.

Well you can contact spook on here and he can fix it or lead you in the right direction. This is a all too common problem with remington actions in 300 WTF ever

One would think that on a fireball action the problem wouldn't be there but its hit or miss on all of them. Whats happening is that the spring pressure from the ejector pin is not there and thats what keeps the case head pushed against the extractor. The case mouth sits against the side of the chamber as you pull it out of the chamber and then as it comes out of the chamber the ejector pin is supposed to push it against the side of the receiver. If your ejector is short or hits its stop too soon the pressure is released and the case falls free of the extractor. We have found that by removing the ejector pin and extending the notch for the retaining pin so that it can be pushed further out by the spring it will hold the case longer. . . long enough for it to clear the receiver side and be ejected.
Hope that makes sense....it worked for us on most of the problem guns. Frank |

Scoop, H-O-W-A like an Italian saying "Howa you like the way your Remington ejects"? |
Thanks for the replies folks.
Amafrank - I'll try it. Spook - Had the HOWA and it was flawless. Shoulda left well enough alone. LOL. Just wanted a Remmy. Oh well, got a little work to do. |
Have someone install a Sako style ext...if that doesnt fix it mail it to me and I'll straighten it out for you. Hope you get it fixed.

Its one of the reasons I started using other actions for the 300 WTF. The 527 CZ is a great one and the little sako actions work great too(L46 or L461). I've got a 700 action on the way for a 338BR though. . . not a bad action just not great for the 300's.

Im having the same problem on my 700. I ordered the sako extraction kit for it, hope that solves the problem. you would think remington would admit their problem and correct it.
