|
Nope that's also on the list. And brass and I'll have to order in some selected bullets SMK 220 but I have been lookin for the barrel for several months - ACC Cyclone on order but that will take several more months so I have time.
Patience is your friend when you don't have large amounts of disposable income. ;) |

Heavy little begger. Was over on another board and posted this Thread about a piston upper... http://www.assaultweb.net/cgi-bin/ul...2;t=006009;p=0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Artful: Stupid question if I get a 300 whisper barrel can it be used on your piston upper? And would it make more loud noise as it's tapping high pressure gas to drive the piston then dumping it into the atmosphere...or does it have a gas cutoff to keep un-needed gas from escaping ie weapon noise that the suppressor can't eliminate... And good photography and nice subjects too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please email us at Sales@POF-USA.com so we can discuss you 300 Whisper project. Mike Brown of Jet Suppressors has been using our gas piston uppers for over a year with great results. Constructed entirely from welded 300 series stainless steel, the 8.38" Lg x 1.50" diameter CYCLONE is the most compact and durable 7.62mm rifle silencer on the market. The computer optimized baffle stack of the CYCLONE delivers a substantial frequency shift, and the resulting muzzle report is indistinguishable from the ballistic crack of the projectile in flight. The weapon's flash signature is completely eliminated, and recoil is reduced to the extent the shooter can actually see bullet impact through the scope. The slight added weight of the CYCLONE will assist in reducing barrel harmonics which can equate to a significant increase in accuracy with many host-weapons. Delivered with standard 9/16-24 threads, the CYCLONE is available with other mounting configurations upon special request. Technical Information Caliber 7.62mm O.A. Length 8.38 in (213mm) Diameter 1.5 in (38mm) Weight 31 oz (886g) Degree of Suppression -30dB (Dry) Construction Materials 300 Series Stainless Steel Standard Finish Bead Blast Stainless Steel Optional Finish Socom Flat Black Moly ResinTM Retail Price $650.00 (Add $50.00 for black finish) FAQ How does the Cyclone mount to my weapon? Via muzzle threads. Will the Cyclone work on my .300 Whisper? Yes. What different threaded mounts are available 9/16-24TPI & 5/8-24 TPI. All barrels must have a minimum muzzle diameter of .600”. Will the Cyclone affect the accuracy of my rifle? Yes. The slight added weight of the Cyclone will assist in reducing barrel harmonics which can equate to a significant increase in accuracy with many host-weapons. There will be a point of impact shift between the rifle with and without the silencer, but it is a repeatable shift. How do you clean the Cyclone? The Cyclone can be cleaned through periodic immersion in a suitable solvent (IE. lacquer thinner). How often do you clean the Cyclone? Every 2000-3000 rounds. Can I shoot full auto through the Cyclone? Go ahead, you won’t hurt it. Can I use the Cyclone on my belt fed? Yes. Just check frequently that the silencer stays tightly threaded to the muzzle threads. Can I shoot .223 through the Cyclone? No problem sound reduction but not as good as 30 caliber but you shouldn't need hearing protection. Can the Cyclone be used wet? The Cyclone can be used wet. However, when using a wet can on a gas operated weapon, the gas system will become fouled with sooty, wet material after repeated firing with water in the silencer. Service Life? Unknown, as no one has worn one out at this time. from http://www.silencertests.com/ Subsonic load unsuppressed 156.8 w/ AAC Cyclone 126.3 - reduction 30.5 Dry - and that's with 308 Subsonic I figure the Whisper should be better as I doubt it's 156.8 unsuppressed. Now waiting for the bizillon months for approval until my Cyclone gets here but that give time to assemble and test the upper without the can to see if it really does tighten groups like some have said and have repeatable Point of Impact shift. :D |
Cyclone is at my dealers :nanabang:
Now have to go over and get all the paperwork started - get pictures and prints and then get that puppy transfered to me. ;) |
Have you taken a look at the Leitner-Wise piston conversions? The L-W system is self regulating and it only takes a fraction of the gas that a direct impingement system does. Here's a link to a great explanation of how this system works: Link
I'm getting whisper with this system in the next few months. I hope this helps. John |
Hey thanks for the link, I have not settled on which upper yet, tried to order a Adjustable gas tube from brownells but it was out of stock. So I will keep saving until either I can afford a piston or brownells gets me the cheap starter version. :D

Artful,
Have you decided on optics yet? That's my next move. I'm looking a some of IOR's stuff right now as I like their MP-8 reticle. Good luck. John |
