Throwing this out there to see if it may be feasible...

I like the idea of the piston driven pistol to remove the nub of a buffer tube from the direct impingement setups.

If it starts as a pistol AR, I'm assuming that combined with suppressor it cannot exceed 16" for the suppressor/ barrel.

Up for discussion: Pro's/ con's, likes/dislikes and any other gotchas or benefits you may see in this type of a setup?

There's no max barrel length for a pistol, just don't attach any kind of buttstock or vertical front hand grip.

Every piston AR I've seen has the bolt carrier moving into a buffer tube so most piston kits wouldn't help with eliminating the buffer tube. Also it would have to be an extremely short piston system for a pistol. I've never heard of such a thing.

There is a lot going on there to make it difficult, one of the main things is the short gas system, the main spring would have to be separate from the gas system making it big and ugly.

If you start with that, I'm sure you could get supersonic loads to run without a problem, I doubt subs would be easy.

I also have no idea how those are actually built so that might be a hurdle that you have to get over.
