a few questions

hi im new to the forum im from ireland i have a warco 600 lathe. im making a few bushes for tractor loaders hedge cutters etc from mild steel. should i be using a stronger grade of steel for this application? also should i get the bushes hardened to withstand wear and tear? case hardened or tru hardened? i am greatful for any advise you can give me

Well if you make them harder something else is just going to wear out. The bushing seems to be the weak link so i would just use mild steel...Bob

Isn't that part of the reason they used brass/bronze for bushings& graphite impregnated nylon for a sacrificial material. I have heard very good things about the Nylatron in high vibration applications.

it would save time and money i think if the bush was harder and just replace the pins
