375 BR/Whisper
http://usera.ImageCave.com/Spook/375BREN.jpg
Latest effort from the shop, 375BRN (Lapua brass) shown with 300gr Hornady rn and 350gr SMK...dumping the Hornadys into cloverleafs @ 100yds using Alliant Power Pistol. RemSSSA,PTG Bolt,PacNor Polygonal CM @16.5, CDI Bottom metal. http://usera.ImageCave.com/Spook/silcarts.jpg 375BRN is the second cartridge from left with 300gr Horn loaded and 350gr SMK beside it. I think this "in between Whisper" is going to be my favorite  Nice heavy projectiles, big ol' hole for various fluids to run out of  bullets are relatively inexpensive..whats not to like? |
Peter, you make some of the sickest quiet weapons I've ever seen. I've seen the 350 SMK, but when did they start making 375 grainers? Too cool...
|
ooops sorry , they are 350 gr :o , screwed the pooch on that one..better fix it. Thanks TC!
|
Ha. No worries bud. Makes sense though; one grain for every .001" of caliber!

Nice work, Spook! What twist are you running on that beast?
|
Nice looking rifle. How do you like the CDI bottom metal?
|
Thanks mrbill, Richard.
its a 10 twist but I've ordered a barrel in 8 for some Lehigh's. I really like CDI bottom metal  |
How many steps are you using to make your brass? Getting the BR brass to .375 must take awhile given the finished bore size. Have you considered using Cream of Wheat? This cartridge is starting to grow on me. Maybe I need to make a call to PacNor.

One pass with the 338 expander, one pass with the 375 and its done.
No trimming, no neck turning, no nada. But I bet COW would work  Dave designed the reamer to use Lapua brass which will outlive you if only loaded subsonic. Rem 7BR is so comparably priced it's just not worth messing with anymore. |
Dan at Mountainmolds.com can cut you guys a custom mold for your .375's if you need one. I'm just wondering if I can justify the expense of building another Whisper since I have the 300 that I built from the barrel you sold me...
