Second Generation Phrobis M9 w/ Flat Top M or Crazy 9
I will be honest that I was holding off sharing this bayonet as it was one that I was trying to get for my own collection but at last the auction is over and I didn't quite bid enough...
Here is a link to the auction Here is the description: Quote:This is a genuine M9 Phrobis III ex - US Army issue Bayonet. The knife is stamped with the words M9 Phrobis III USA. The sheath is heavy-duty and an olive green in color. It has a detachable belt clip. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. The knife is in EXCELLENT condition. It's not new, but it has been very well taken care of. What made this knife interesting is the rather unusual markings on the blade especially the flattened "M" and unusual "9". I know this is comonly refered to as the Second Generation Phrobis and you can find more general info on the various Phrobis M9s in this thread. Following are some large pics I had requested from this seller when the knife was first posted for sale: http://quarterbore.com/images/m9_phrobis_crazy9-01a.jpg http://quarterbore.com/images/m9_phrobis_crazy9-01b.jpg http://quarterbore.com/images/m9_phrobis_crazy9-01c.jpg http://quarterbore.com/images/m9_phrobis_crazy9-01d.jpg |

I recently bought a Lan-Cay M11 EOD knife and some of the individual pieces of a Buck commercial M9 bayonet on eBay from another member of this site. Great info here. I do have a question though, is the pommel upside down in the last 3 photos of the above knife or am I seeing things? porterkids Joined: 19 Jan 2005 Posts: 19 Posted: Fri Mar 04, 2005 9:48 pm Post subject: Oops! Hello and welcome to the M9 forums. Collecting M9 bayonets is becoming a more and more popular hobby. Sounds like you've got a good start. You're absolutely correct, the pommel is upside down on the bayonet. Looks like someone took it apart and put it back together incorrectly. |
