Barnes Bullets
Hello all, I glad to see there is a 300 whisper forum finally!
I have a question on reloading of the Barnes Triple Shock 150 grain bullets for the whisper. I have a encore barrell 18 inches long, the primary use is deer hunting, I have done some nice loads with the data out there at reloaders nest, but I would love to try the triple shocks. I want to know if any members have tried these rounds for hunting, and if there is anyone with load data on this bullet to get me at a starting point? I was asking this so that I did not have to go through and set up the bullets off the lands (.50 to .100) Well any input would greatly be appreciated. encoreman |

I have some rounds reloaded, they start at 15 grains of H110 yo 19.5 grains of H110, I will get to the range this coming weekend to try em out.
They are seated .060 from the lands. Encoreman :D |
Well everyone its been awhile but I finally got around to testing the new Barnes Triple shocks in a Encore single shot rifle with a 18 inch barrel.
Here are some things I noticed DO NOT load more than 17.0 grains of H110 in the cases. At 17.5 grains of powder there is a noticeable primer over-pressuring, 50% of the primers actually were forced from the case itself. Here is the actual loading data: use at your own risk, Barnes 150 grain Triple Shock 17 Grains H110 Bullet at .055-. 060 off lands Group was .397 @100 yards The grouping was very consistent from 15.7- 17.0 grains of powder, there was a noticeable elevation in groups size below or above this number. All testing was done at sea level. Encoreman |
