Blast chamber question

How long should the blast/expansion chamber be on a 30 cal suppressor that's 8" in length?

Thats a question with a lot of different answers depending on what sort of baffles, the diameter of the can and whether you are going to shoot supersonic, subsonic or both. You may start by using 1.5 diameters as a length to the first(blast) baffle and go from there.That seems to work well.....

Sorry about the vagueness in the post. The can is 1 5/8" OD with .065" wall. ID therefore, is 1.5". Strictly gonna be used for subsonic 300 Whisper. I have plans on making another for supersonic 308 WIN as well for use in my M1A.
