25 Ackley Improved Magnums
 

I have a 25 caliber Ackley Improved barrel. It is 26 inch long It has P.O. Ackley stamped on the barrel with no caliber. It is deffently a belted magnum chamber. It has a large ring mauser barrel shank. I can't find any information that P.O. Ackley ever built a 25 caliber on a belted magnum case. From looking into the chamber it appears that it has a sharp angle shoulder. A 257 Weatherby Magnum resized case will nearly fit into the chamber. I don't have the barrel attached to the action. I'm assuming that the 257 Weatherby case with its rolled type shoulder will not permit the case from fully seatting in the chamber. I called RCBS to find avilible dies. I talked to their speacil order guy that builds special dies. He had never heard of PO Ackley building a 257 on a belted maguim case. And RCBS has never built any for customers. They could build me a set of dies for a big pile of money. Is there any dies availible and can anyone shed some light on what I have. At last resort I could rechamber to 257 Weatherby, dies would be alot cheaper.
