Brass Services / For Sale

I have had a few people asking me about me making 300/221/Whisper/Blackout brass as I have a Dillon 1050 all set up for it.

I can and am willing to do it.

Please keep in mind that there are many flavors of the 300 Whisper/Blackout out there. I do all the heavy lifting for you, I trim it to 1.355 and take care of the primer pocket crimp. With some chambers you can just add a primer, powder, bullet and you are good to go. Other chambers you might have to run the brass through a full length resize die. I strongly recommend doing it anyway, but that is just me. I even full length resize all brass, virgin or not. I would rather ship brass that needs the shoulder pushed back a couple thousandths than send you overworked brass that will cause headspace issues and short brass life.

If you send me your once fired and cleaned 223 brass, I will deprime it, swage out any primer crimp, cut it back to 1.355 and tumble it 100% clean again. You get your brass back.

.10 each

If you want me to touch up the neck on a Giruad trimmer, it will cut a slight VLD type chamfer and completely deburr the case. This is not needed as the Dillon run at 4,000 rpm and cuts really clean, but it leaves a square edge. The Giruad will make it perfect. If you want it run through the Giruad, add .04 each. Depending on how much brass I have to process, I should be able to turn your brass in around 5-7 days.

I can also anneal brass on my Giraud annealer. Annealing is one of those cant hurt might help kind of things. Add .02 each.

I will ship it back via USPS flat rate with signature confirmation.

References avail.

Sorry it took me so long to get the loads up and get out to the range (this is about the brass you sold me back in October), but I was out last night and that brass you made is amazing! I got my narrowest spread on velocity from any round I've loaded for any firearm.

12fps across 10 rounds with your brass, CCI BR-4 primers, 8.50gr H110, and 240gr SMK's. I didn't believe the spread after 5 (10fps spread), so loaded and shot a second 5 at the range and the total spread was 12fps for all 10. Downrange accuracy was similarly fantastic. I was only shooting at 50 yards (just doing chrono testing), but they were going in one hole.

I have clearly found the subsonic load for my AR.

Thanks again for the offer, the great price, and the fantastic brass!

Ross

Did you make a custom trim die?

Nope. I machined a bunch off a spare 1050 toolhead to allow use of a CH4D trim die and a shop vac.

Thats not me, but mine looks just like it. I just dont have a motor hooked up to my machine.

The motor (PW power load) I have is on another 1050 and I use it for loading ammo.

pm sent for info.

Hoser 06-03-2010 02:42 PM

And for those looking for completed brass, I do have some once fired Lake City.

sten668 06-05-2010 03:15 PM

Great job on the 500 rounds you processed for me, now I have to find the time to load them. I didn't know that you would turn them around so fast.
Thanks again

How much to process NEW brass?

i.e. no need to decap, swage, etc.

I will not work on new or processed brass. The work/time involved is easily triple that of once fired. The reason being that the trim die I use relies on the case walls grabbing on the the die so when the cutter blade come down the case stays put and the blade does not spin the case in the die. If that happens, things get ugly in a hurry.

I did 500 pieces of virgin Lapua brass for my bolt gun. Ended up hacking the tops off the cases with a trim die/hack saw on my rockchucker then running them through my 1050.

No discount for de-primed or processed brass as it all still has to go through my machine and inspected by me after. In fact I am not willing to work on processed brass.

Im not getting rich off this, just trying to help people out.

dvanncvann 06-14-2010 10:08 PM

400 pieces came back today. I wont be making any more 300 whisper brass as long as Hoser is doing his thing!

joesig 07-10-2010 12:22 AM

I took advantage of Hoser's post on 6/3. Without a doubt it was a first rate transaction. Prompt response to emails, fast shipping and the brass looks great at an even better price. A credit to the shooting community.

Thanks again!

I sent you a PM.

Hoser 07-31-2010 01:46 PM

When you send me brass, please make sure you do the following.

1. Make sure it is clean.
2. No Berdan primers oe steel cases.
3. It has *NOT* been resized or processed.
4. Enclose a note telling me how to provide you a tracking number.
5. Let me know ahead of time that I have brass headed my way.

Dillon Trimmer Dies are also a resize die. If the case has already been resized, things go downhill in a hurry.

I have done a lot of brass since I first offered this up, and dont want to make this a chore. If it becomes one, I will stop doing it.

Thanks guys.

++1 for Hoser's brass services. I got some of his once fired LC brass. They function in all three of my barrels without issue. Brass looks great and with his fast turn a round it sure beats me forming these myself. Hoser, PM sent for more.

Hoser 08-03-2010 10:31 AM

Some brass on hand. Mixed headstamp.

snipecatcher 08-21-2010 06:07 PM

Thanks,

I did over 10K brass in Sept for various people and I also have a few thousand pieces on hand all ready to go.

Dillon Trimmer Dies are also a resize die. If the case has already been resized, things go downhill in a hurry.

Just to make sure everyone is 100% clear.

Sized/processed brass will not work. The trimmer die I use needs to be able to hold on to the case while the trimmer blade does the work. If the case has been resized, the case just spins inside the die. If the cutter grabs on and tears off a big chunk of brass and locks things up, it will destroy a $250 Dillon trimmer motor.

I also need a way to contact you. Please put a note of some sort in the box...

the brass arrived yesterday, thank you very much
