Good information to know if you dont already...Thanks:wink:

robrob 01-27-2011 10:14 PM

I had the same problem. I had to lower the expander ball/decapping pin lower than with other caliber resizing dies.

This morning I was sorting thru the bag o' brass from Hoser, looking like Scrooge McDuck, I remembered I hadn't posted how nice of brass it is. Hate to do this because now even more people will be getting brass from him and crimp my supply.:uzi2:

No need to sort it. Just send me what you have. If there is a primer crimp, my machine gets rid of it. If there isn't, well it doesn't...

Mike Bell 03-22-2011 12:10 AM

What about nickel plated brass? I have a few in the mix....but I can get em out if needed.

Nickel is real hard on cutters. Not as hard as steel case, but you can kill a carbide cutter in 20-30 cases.

Mike Bell 03-23-2011 07:50 PM

Im glad I asked..... Im looking out for ya !

Not yet....

I was in Phoenix shooting. Had a good time. 320pf came and found me. We spent some time catching up and talking guns and wildcats.

Hoser 04-11-2011 10:07 AM

And I am still turning your 223/5.56 brass into 300 WTF for .10 each.

It is a good thing I bought two more trimmers and a few spare blades at Dillon a couple weeks ago.

Mike Bell 04-11-2011 06:28 PM

Dang....a week late:grin:

Mike Bell 04-15-2011 11:47 PM

Nothing like a good piece of brass. Thanks Hoser.

People, If you send in good clean 223 once fired brass.....You will get good clean whisper brass back!! :nanabang: Got my Hoser brass, now Im ready to start working up some loads finally. :sniper:

Hoser 04-30-2011 09:25 AM

Spent the past couple weeks getting caught up and ahead of demand.

Lots of brass in stock.

Hoser 05-03-2011 02:44 PM

Uncle Sam has decided to send me back to Texas for the fires.

If you have sent me brass and I have it today, I will get it done and turned tonight. Otherwise I will get it done as soon as I get back in town. That will be 1-2 weeks or as soon as the fires go out.

Those of you in Texas, look for me in the C-130 with a big #2 on it.

Hoser 05-09-2011 01:03 PM

Im back.

The humidity came up a few points and the wind laid down a bit.

Hoser,

It's still plenty dry and very windy around here in North Texas. We definitely appreciate you guys in the C130s - wouldn't surprise me if you end up back here before too long. Unless we get some serious rain in the right places pretty quick it's going to be a very long summer.

Great picture, by the way!!!

Glad we were able to help. I was shocked when they told us to go home.

I am dragging my feet getting the firefighting systems offloaded as they are a huge pain to on/offload.

dvanncvann 05-11-2011 08:09 AM

Just got my 2nd order of brass from Hoser. Excellent brass and quick turn time.

skippy 06-06-2011 08:14 AM

Got my order in the other day...nothing but good to say!! Was without a doubt, the easiest, fastest, mail order transaction I have ever done! I sure won't be making them one-at-a time anymore!

scorge30 06-06-2011 09:09 PM

At present I have only one .300 Whisper - an Encore SS 12" T/C Custom Shop barrel that the previous owner ordered in .30 Herrett. I sent it to Mike Bellm in Grants Pass OR, who reamed it out to .300 Whisp-R improved.

Since my barrel already had the rim cut for its original cartridge based on the .30-30 Winchester, I have the option of using either .221 Fireball or .357 Rem Maximum brass to make .300 Whisp-R improved.

I have been making them one at a time but it is slow. Mike Bellm recommends annealing the cases prior to resizing or they will split. Using .357 Rem Max brass does give a insignificant increase in case capacity but with sharper shoulders.

http://www.bellmtcs.com/store/index.php?cid=570

My dies are from CH4D and are marked .300 Bellm - Whisper.

http://www.ch4d.com/

Can I send .357 Rem Max brass and have it treated the same way as the other brass?

Hoser 06-14-2011 11:15 PM

Still trimming your brass and I also have lots on hand and ready to ship.

Hoser 07-18-2011 10:57 AM

Well after dumping over 995,000 gallons of fire retardant red goop on Arizona and New Mexico I am back home.

I spent this weekend getting caught up and am shipping a bunch of brass out this morning.

Lots of brass on the shelf and ready to ship.

Hoser 08-09-2011 10:59 AM

Spent this weekend making Whisper/Blackout brass and loading shotshell ammo for dove season and the Sportsmans Team Challenge.

Nothing like a productive weekend.

Slinky 08-10-2011 06:26 PM

Are you willing to ship to the UK?

How much would it be to supply and ship 500 LC, please?

I understand if this is extra hassle you're not willing to take on, but I am about to get my first AAC blackout rifle (an AR-15 in the UK-legal form, i.e. with no gas tube).

Cheers...

The 300 Whisper/Blackout is a very short case.

I did 1,000 pcs of brass for a customer and when he went to load them he ran into some issues.

When he ran them into his Forester resize die he was tearing the necks completely off. Not good.

I tried to figure out why, but was stumped. All the brass gauged good before I shipped it.

After some stressing and fretting, I figured it out.

If you have the expander ball adjusted too high it can end up in the neck portion of the die. Now you have the die trying to squish the neck down and the ball trying to expand it out. The poor case gets stuck in the middle.

Just a public service announcement...

http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/DSC02597.jpg

I ran into this very issue last week, pulled the neck right off, oh well into the scrap bucket so I an use it when I try some brass casting

Are you back home& still making chips Hoser? current prices?

Edit to add, you mentioned you had to sort out a bunch of Military blanks, is that brass useable if you were to use a trim die& saw, or is the brass substandard otherwise?

I have spent most of this summer in Texas and NM working the wild fires. I should be home soon and can start shipping brass again.

Blanks dont work well at all. I just recycle them.

Back in town and getting my head above water.

Seems as though the work around the squadron and range piled up while I was gone. The end of playing catch up is close. Despite the snow and honey do list, I got some range time in yesterday and my OBR rebarreled to 260.

I am also proud to announce that I am also a Sponsor of the 2011 Thunderbeast Team Challenge. Just like the 2011 Steel Safari, you will find lots of my brass on the prize table.

http://thunderbeastarms.com/competit...challenge-2011

Latest batch of brass is in the tumblers getting a final polish.
