Hosers Brass is good stuff
I bought five hundred a few months ago. The brass works great in my Encore and a Buddy's CZ.
|
Slugging my way through a 10,000 piece order right now. I will post pics when I am done.
Sometimes I do special order work... A buddy of mine that shoots a 300/221 rimmed in IHMSA matches ask me to make him a few hundred cases. I ordered up some 357 Max brass and got to work making chips. 30 minutes later the brass was formed. I annealed the necks for him and sent it off. He got it last week, loaded it up and shot an 80x80 (thats a perfect score *twice* for you non silhouette types) that next day. |
Sorry for the HiJack, but what are you using for annealing? I have several thousand to do, and the thought of holding cases and/or a propane bottle just makes me not want to do it.

I pretty much anneal all my bolt gun ammo every reload now days cause the Giraud annealer makes it so easy. |
Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking about the JDK annealer.

what would you think about using something like this?

There is a loaded 50 BMG round on top just to give you an idea of how big that plastic bin is. http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/a...f/DSC02515.jpg |
That is a lot of brass, I have been doing mine in 200 - 300 lots.

Question:
Would your brass work in an actual SSK chamber? (Being that the case used for that chamber is a necked up 221, it would more then likely have a thinner neck...) Reason I ask, I have an older Contender barrel from SSK. And I'm growing tired of looking for 221 brass everytime I need more. Also, I am receiving a T/C Encore factory barrel....so I will be contacting you on payday for a batch. Thanks! Scott |

I think I also have a couple hundred pcs formed from virgin 221 here somewhere... PM sent. |

SSK 300 Whisper barrels
I have both a Thompson Encore barrel and a SSK barrel that I bought new a month ago. Hoser's brass works like a charm in both!
|
I just had Hoser convert 1k pieces of brass for me. The service was fast and the brass is very nice. I will send him more and recommend him to anyone looking to convert their brass.
|
Just a quick side note.
You can take the brass right out of the box I send it in and load it up. However I do recommend running them through a FL length resize die and maybe a quick twist with a deburr/chamfer tool. It is one of those cant hurt, might help things. I hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving. |
I am going to be out of touch doing military stuff for a while.
Please bear with me while I try to put of the fires in Israel. No, really. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...D-05-14857.jpg |
I would certainly do it if I did not have so much brass already.

AMC = Air Mobility Command or Always Miss Christmas... Seeing as how I was working Christmas day, I took yesterday off to shoot some 600-1100 yard steel with two of my more quiet toys. http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/DSC02546.jpg |

I got mine!
I just got my 199 pieces of ancient 5.56 military brass back from reworking with Hoser.
Great job, great price, and incredible turnaround (and they sure look purdy, too!). I'd highly recommend his services to anyone with .223 or 5.56 brass hanging around, that shoots our round-with-many-names. -K9 Handler |
Mixed headstamp avail again. I only have about 5,500 pcs as of right now.
Lots of Lake City avail. |
Just to bring some important info to the top...

I have also had people send me resized brass. it wont work and does not save me any time or you any $$$. My machine de-primes, swages out the primer crimp, resizes and trims all in one step. |
What if we dont have brass to send you? (My ammo is still loaded) Is there a core charge like car parts?

Learned a very important lesson tonight.
The 300 Whisper/Blackout is a very short case. I did 1,000 pcs of brass for a customer and when he went to load them he ran into some issues. When he ran them into his Forester resize die he was tearing the necks completely off. Not good. I tried to figure out why, but was stumped. All the brass gauged good before I shipped it. After some stressing and fretting, I figured it out. If you have the expander ball adjusted too high it can end up in the neck portion of the die. Now you have the die trying to squish the neck down and the ball trying to expand it out. The poor case gets stuck in the middle. Just a public service announcement... http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/DSC02597.jpg |
