Lee Case Trimmer / 1.345?
 

I am using a Lee manual case trimmer to trim down Lake City brass after running them through a Redding full length sizing die. They are coming out to 1.345 instead of 1.355. Will this slightly shorter length cause a problem?

NO. It's not ideal, but worst case scenario you'll never have to trim your cases again.

You can adjust the length that the Lee trims at by backing out the trim length guide. That's why the threads are split in the middle in case you need it tighter in the cutter, just open the threads a LITTLE. That's all I use to trim any of my cases...

I pulled a couple of bullets out of CORBON 220 subs and the cases measured 1.345"-1.347" OAL. The brass is marked "SSK 300 Whisper"

Also, whatever powder they use, it weighs 8.9 grains. Looks like a double base ball powder.

A little too short is no big deal. Too long, big deal.

If you go under 1.330-340 I might be tempted to toss the brass.

Can you explain this process in a little more detail?

I was also thinking you could drop a small piece of metal, like a "snip" of solder, into the trimmer, which would prevent the trim length gauge from going all the way in.

I used a flathead screwdriver to spread out the two thread halves. This increased the overall length to about 1.360. With a little additional effort I then screwed the case length gage in more and was able to get right at 1.355. Thanks TerroristHunter.

I did shoot using the original brass at 1.345. As Alleycat and others suggested it worked just fine.
