What can are you running on your whisper?
Just seeing what you guys are running. A comment on if you were happy with the investment would also be appreciated.
Thanks, Bill |
Ops Inc. Run it wet. Its great!!!

Shark Ti on the AR and Surefire 338 on the bolt-gun.

I was using a .30 cal AWC Thundertrap on mine but at 26oz it made it VERY front heavy.
I am now running a SWR Trident 9 on it. I run SS ONLY in this gun, I have a .308 if I want to go supersonic. I did not notice any real sound difference between the two. The Trident is light so the gun balances well. I am very happy with this set up. I still have a few things to do to it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...DSC_0004-2.jpg |
SSK..........barrel ported to make most use of first expansion chamber, very quiet

With 308, also use same can. http://listmequick.com/AR10/100_1327.JPG close up http://listmequick.com/300/cyclone3.jpg Works on the 308 too. My first can, nothing to compare it to. Not hollywood quiet, but easily hearing safe. |
trident 9 for me as well.
i am happy with it, but i would like to try a .30 cal can |
I'll be useing a YHM S.S. Phantom once I get my rifle running. I'm still in the ammo reloading phase:o

I am currently running a new style AAC Cyclone on my 700 bolt gun. It sounds quieter than my friends SSK build.
It is very heavy. I should have a new Degroat 300 whisper can by the end of the month. I have heard these are crazy quiet. It is long but only weighs 14 oz. It is basically a long 9mm can with a stainless blast baffle. Definately worth the investment. |

I have a Degroat 300 whisper can and have put it up against my
AAC 762 and a Cyclone and the Degroat can is the quietest. I have not tried it on the AR yet as the AAC 762 flashider is sorta dedicated to it. . http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...SCF0004w-1.jpg . There is another 308 can that is on the market made by Tornado Technologies. http://www.fortmoe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17187 |
How much difference between the Degroat and the Cyclone? It has got to be A LOT quieter based on the volume of the can.

with the Degroat can, and no its not a oversize 9mm/35 cal can as I have a Degroat navy 9 can as well and the bore in the 300 can is to small for 9mm. |
Bill .. YOU know I am running an SAS can and love it!
|
Trident-9 and Triple-X Warrior.
The Trident is a little quieter and much lighter. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...J/100_0723.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...J/DSC07203.jpg |
Finally got a pic of it.

On a more serious note: Any particular reason for having 3? |
Trident 9 and I shoot supersonics through it. A quick walk through quickload shows the muzzle pressure to be in the range the can was designed for so what the hell.
Of course if I do screw it up it won't be covered under warranty. |
GemTech TPRS on a Rem 788 with a 17 in PacNor 1x8 twist and my Mauser 06.
Also am building a M1S AR just got the barrel threaded and not put together yet. I run this can on a 10-22 and a Win Mdl 75 22lr. |

I am using YHM 9mm Phantam QD XL on a 10 1/2" barreled AR 300 whisper and is very light. YHM 762 Phantom QD on my AR 762x39 and 308 Bolt gun.
|
Currently an AAC Cyclone. Just picked up a Trident for my wife's Berretta so I intend to get a mount and give it a go on the whisper.

running a YHM 762 phantom QD. It Sounds good...... but one day when my AAC 762SD arrives it should be much quieter. YHM makes good products, but there are many more that are much better..
