Weird Question...
 

I recently inherited a couple of hundred pull-down 165gr. M-2 AP .30cal. projectiles and was wondering if anyone here ever loaded it for the .300 Whisper.

I have .308s and .30-06s that I can load these into, but was wondering if the .300 Whisper even achieves enough velocity with these for their intended purpose?

Friend of mine did this.

While it did not penetrate like it would a full speed, he was shooting SS, it was very impressive. We were testing loads on a steel plate. At 50 yards the AR Whisper penetrated about as much as a standard SS109 round.

Any ideas what powder/data or he used? Maybe velocity?

Dont know what he was loading in his. I do know they were SS so I am guessing as close to 1050 fps he could.

I shoot Hornday 220gr RN's using 11.3gr 1680. They sounded good all summer(at ~1040) but were loud last weekend when it got cold but I didnt get to test them on the chrono.
