U.S. M7 factory edge??
Gentlemen,
Would any of you happen to know how the edges were put on U.S. M7 Bayonets at the factory? I have a few M7's with rough asymetrical edges and was curious what sharpening method I could use to properly and symetically re-sharpen the blades to original factory spec. Would it be best to use some sort of simple pull through type sharpener or would it be better to use a Lansky type that holds the blade and you can set the angle and fully sharpen by hand? If a Lansky type sharpener was used, what would be the proper angle to set for the M7? I look forward to hearing some feedback. Semper-Fi Do or Die....O3 out!! :sniper: |
sharpening
My M7 from CheaperThanDirt has a very rough edge that my little Gerber twin porcelain V sharpener can't touch. I'm having to take it to a professional to put an edge on it that hopefully I can touch up. As a fobbit, if I have to use it, it'll only be once, so I want a nice sharp edge & point that'll go through a vest.

I have handled a few hundred M7's and the edges on them are all varied. New/unissued bayonets appeared to have a rough edge. Unit issued bayonets appear to have been sharped by the units. The M7s have many makers. The Imperials that I have had and sold seem to have had the finest edges and I believe they must have been sharpened by Imperial.
