AR Whisper build started ... parts?

Hi Guys,

I've started a Whisper build ... parts are mostly ordered at this point. Will have a 16+" SS bbl from tp555 with a pistol position gas block. It's final resting place will be Black Rain upper/lower pair that should be in by Thanksgiving. Will be delivered after CeraKoting with an RRA 2 Stage NM LPK. Have a YHM rifle length Light Rail with ladder covers coming as well as an RRA Operator's stock for it. Have a good milspec BCG for it. Two gas tubes (carbine and pistol length) are available to fit.

Ordering of little stuff will be complete by mid week. (GG&G sling mounting plate, Specter sling, forward assist, etc.)

Will need a recoil buffer. Is there any value in a heavy carbine buffer for this chambering? (Will be used both sub and supersonic and will eventually mount a suppressor.)

Expect to use a simple scope initially ... a 3-9x Pentax with ballisticplex reticle ... will have to save some money for nifty things later ;-)

Have cut 500+ pcs of LC97 brass already. Will wait to finish it until I can make sure the sizing die is set to put the shoulder at the correct place for proper headspace.

Could be a very interesting piece ;-) Will post pics as the build becomes real.

In my recently completed build I used a standard carbine buffer and spring with 11" barrel and pistol gas port.

With the subsonic loads I worked up I don't think a heavier buffer would work. The gun cycles fine and locks the bolt back suppressed or unsuppressed, but it seems a little sluggish with subsonic loads.

using tp555's adjustable gas block I hope!

Of course! Also having tp555 make a case gauge block so I don't have to chamber rounds to check them.

I like to know every round in the store will chamber.

Barrel stock should either just have gotten to him or due in shortly ... waiting isn't a lot of fun! Tend to spend too much money getting goodies together.

Last stuff gets ordered tomorrow. I think everything safe the billet stuff and the bbl should be here by the 1st of November. Gave a spare upper receiver and several complete lowers so can do a test build before the billet stuff arrives.
