colchester mascot 1600 repair ?

i am new to the sight but after looking around a little i think i found the right place for some help. i have a 70's modle colchester mascot 1600 lath and it has worked good for a long time but the rotational dive is starting to act up on me now when i push the engaugement arm down it seems to take a minute or more to get up to speed but if i lift the arm to rotate the other way it takes off instantly i checked all my linkages andthey seem to be working ok i also took them off and tried to enguage it directly on the shaft but it did not make any diffirence i drained the fluid and it seemed to start a little faster so i flushed the system and replaced it with what the tag said but it is still very slow so i took the top cover off and checked it out in their everything looks ok but their seems to be a little more slop in one clutch pack then the other kinda lost can the clutches get out of wak and need ajusted over time or should i be looking for the problem some wear else any input would be great

Sounds like the clutch plates are worn out.
The triumph's clutch is adjustable, dunno about yours, shouldnt be too hard to work out by having a look though.
Colchester still supply most of the common spares for a lot of their old machines.
