Name & Source for M7 Grip Screw Inserts?
1 Attachment(s)
I'm doing a couple sets of "retro" grips for the M7. I'm using brown Delrin, and it works very nicely on the lathe/mill. (Pic attached).
But it's soft, so I want to use the flanged nut/sleeve like the OEM M7 grips (and screw, too). I checked the Jantz and Texas Knifemakers catalogs and don't see this type. What exactly are they called, so I can search for them??? And if anyone knows a source, I'd appreciate it! |
Check out this site. Unfortunately the inserts are molded into the grips. I don't know if you'll be able to press them in to your machined grips and have them hold.

Here's another source. I've purchased many items from this company. They are great to deal with.

The flanged inserts with knurling would be great. I'll try looking under that heading. Thanks! |
I decided to go with the M7 inserts...It means having to buy a bayonet and press out the inserts, but the Retro enthusiasts prefer to have the real M7 hardware...
Not a big problem; just means the whole bayonet is offered instead of just the grips... |

Here's a pic of my faux "retro" ArmaLite AR-15... http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...nds32carb2.jpg I can't find anything that looks correct for a 601 bayonet...except the M7 hardware... |
Here's a pic of one of the faux 601 brown Delrin bayonet grips I do... ;)

Nice looking work.
