Advice on buying a milling machine

Hi, I am new to this form, and milling machines, for that matter. I have always wanted a milling machine, and I have finally found one that suites me, I think but at least its for the right price. So any way I will skip to my question. Should i get a vertical or horizontal milling machine? I am a bit of a nobe, but I am quite familiar with metal and fabricating. It would be great if you could list the pro's and con's of each style. If possible get back asap because it might sell before I can make an offer.

Thanks a lot,
Marlon

A vertical-horizontal could be very useful. The vertical mills are most common. Horizontal mills are used frequently for cutting spiral gears, gang milling, and are great when your milling task requires that the milling cutter be supported at both ends (horizontal mills have the milling cutter mounted on a horizontal arbor that is mounted at both ends).

The vertical-horizontal mill usually has the motor and milling head mounted on a turret that is rotated to select either vertical or horizontal operation.
