Who made this Bayonet?

I have a M9 which says M9 on one side, on the opposite it reads U.S.A PAT. NO. 4,821,356. The holster is a Bianchi Military Holster. My nephew is a helicopter pilot in Iraq and he gave it to me. Is there anyway I can find out who made this knife?

I found it, thanks.

According to the US patent office, the holder of the Patent number is Phrobis, so I guess they made the bayonet. I wonder why their name is not on the blade.

Phrobis M9

From the Patent Number marking and "M9" designation only, it sounds like one of the bayonets made for Franklin Mint by Marto. They were initially offered sans scabbard and attached to a wall plaque. When sales were less than expected, the remainder were sold with a modified Phrobis scabbard which utilized a web carrying strap (as opposed to the Bianchi belt clip). I was told use of the "M9" marking was a patent violation as well, because BUCK then owned the rights to that designation (Phrobis then used the M9A1 designation).

On the scabbard there is a Phrobis marking I just found. It is in the shape of a shark under the stone, under the strap. Thanks for your information.

If the knife was made in Spain, why is it marked U.S.A.? My nephew told me it was issued to him. Why was a counterfeit knife issued to a active service member, he told me since he is flying he does not need the knife since he only carries a pistol with him. He is a warrant officer. Why is the case marked Phrobis?
