Lee case length gage

I don't know how many of you use the Lee case length gages. I do for most of the other calibers I reload, I had been thinking about getting one made for the Whisper, as they will make custom sizes. I was browsing midwayusa.com recently and found that they have a Lee 300 Whisper case length gage listed as "coming soon." There is no expected date, but for $4.50 it will be an inexpensive method to try for trimming Whisper.

I made my own and was consiering making a small run of them but never got around to it. Good to hear LEE is making some.

That's good to hear. You could go directly through Lee's custom shop but it was something like $19.00 for a custom specified length. For $4.50 I'll have to pick one up.

This is probably way late. I'm having my barrel custom made. So the chamber gage will be made by the same reamer that was used to make the chamber itself.

It wasn't a Case Length gauge exactly, it was their Trimmer guide/gauge that goes into their cutter.

SSK just sold me a Case Length guage for $30 or so, not that much more than a regular L.E. Wilson.

A custom Lee one would be cheaper but not by much.

The gage I have is essentially a go no-go type of gage. You drop the case in it and see where the head sits. There is a 0.003" cut on the gage for head space. My chamber is supposed to be cut to 1.359 so it can take both SSK and Redding sized cases.

Lee Case length

I use one. I bought a .30 carbine guage for my trimmer and added a small washer which I sanded to bring it up to the correct OAL. It works beautifully.

Couldn't you cut about 0.065" off of the 30 carbine trimmer and get the same effect?
