Hello,
there is an M9 bayonet to commemorate the Panama 1989 "Operation Just Cause".
A picture of this commemorative can be found in the H. Brett book.
Unfortunately I don't have the book ready accessible, and I can't even remember if it was a Phrobis (most probably) or a LanCay.
I don't have any idea, also, about the production numbers of this bayonet.

If I remember correctly there were 28 of the "Operation Just Cause" bayonets made. These were designed and made by Mr. Brett and to the best of my knowledge he has not released any of them to the public.

Only then 28, very scarce M9, thanks the digit which once more you provide. This is a very happy matter if I can purchase one of such M9.But that possibility is Spain produces, the other aspect engraves the patent number: USA PAT NO. 4821356

All of the Phrobis International M9 bayonets were made by Marto in Spain. They are not Spanish copies.

Franklin Mint 1991 commemorative
 

This is my first post......having trouble understanding procedure.....I have a Franklin Mint M9......one one side is USA....Pat. no. 4.821,356.....However, on the other side is etched M9...... The Franklin Mint commemorative board is dated 1991 with a brass sign and all the flags of countries that provided troops for Desert Storm....Who made this particular bayonet......Thank you ...and I hope to understand how to work this system soon....Ankles....new member.....

I believe the bayonet you have was commissioned by Franklin Mint and made by Marto, Spain.

The bayonet on the Franklin Mint plaque was made by Marto. The original magazine ad for that plaque had a bayonet that was marked M9 over MARTO. Turned out that Marto wasn't licensed to sell the M9 in the US, so to get around the red tape and having to go to a different source for the bayonet, FM simply had Marto remove their name from the blades.

As a side note, there are M9/MARTO marked bayonets. These were made by Marto for commercial sales in Europe. Carlo showed these in a post last week.

I just bought one of these Franklin mint commemertives, off EBAY for 75 dolalrs and was suprisingly the only bidder. Mine is only marked M9 and not Marto, and is in mint condition. Comes mounted on a repro M16 Barrel, very nice piece, now for a Marto marked blade, and that glorious Gold USMC that Carlo shows

From your message I did not understand if you were really looking for a Marto marked blade .... I have duplicates of both the green model marked M9/MARTO and the scarcer black one marked M9A1/MARTO, both complete with their original boxes and available for trade. :wink:

I will be taking pictures and adding it to my site and its M9 page this weekend, i will post one here at the same time. I am after a Marto marked bayonet and was recently offered two one a commemerative and one a normal but at the moment both are out of my range, and i have little to offer by way of trade. I was very suprised to win this commemerative, it had a buy it now ow 450 but I won it at the opening bid of 75, sometimes you win

I guess you were the only bidder because the seller did not mention the word "M9" in the auction's title and/or description. This way it was not noticed.

Well that wasnt that hard, despite it crashing IE. I was amazed and from his comment so was the seller at what a low price it went for, ishall have to keep my eyes open for another and then i may have something to trade for a Spain marked one :grin:
